Description
What is EQ Hoist

Rayvanbo's EQ electric chain hoists are designed for medium to heavy-duty industrial and workstation applications. These hoists include a unique no-load high speed function that automatically increase hoist speed up to 130% when the load is less than 30% of working load limit. All models come with a standard "under-the-cover" variable frequency drive - regardless of voltage. This device works by varying the power to the motor, which allows you to adjust both the high and low speeds. It also provides a soft-start/soft-stop operation to reduce shock loads, swing, and bounce - resulting in more precise load control and longevity of the hoist.

Electric EQ Hoist Advantages

Increased Productivity

An electric chain hoist can make lifting and moving weights from one place to another simple, thus is widely used for heavy-duty, medium-duty as well as light-duty applications. This helps workers spend less time adjusting the loads as no manual effort is needed when compared to the manual hoist reducing fatigue and helping boost productivity. Thus, an electric chain hoist is what you need if you want to save time and improve overall productivity. There are even various options available as per the work requirements.

High Load Capacity

As the name goes a motor is attached to an electric chain hoist. Hence, when compared to manual hoists, a single person operating a chain pulley block can only lift up to max. 5 tons whereas, in the case of an electric chain hoist, they can go up to 30 tons, powering the lifting capability of the machine. Also, an electric chain hoist helps with cross-travel motion, lifting a wide range of loads even more comfortably.

Cost Effective

The cost of skilled labour, particularly for lifting machinery, is rising over time. Because of the minimal labour requirements, an electric chain hoist can save significantly on labour costs; it is also a one-time investment.

Applications of Electric EQ Hoists

Engine Hoists

Engine hoists, or engine cranes, are used to assist the workers in the installation and maintenance of engines of automobiles. They are designed to lift the engine under the automobile hood. Their electric hoists are mounted on top of the rigid and portable structural frame. The structural frame has wheels installed at its base to easily maneuver the hoist over the automobile, as well as to transport it around the machine shop. Its portability makes it suitable for outdoor applications. The structural frame of some engine hoists is foldable, so it can save space when it is stored.

Overhead Cranes

In overhead cranes, there are two parallel end trucks mounted on runway beams . The runway beams are also responsible for supporting the entire overhead crane and the load. The end trucks travel along the rails of the runway beams together with the bridge and the electric hoist. The electric hoist travels across the length of the bridge. The bridge can either be a single girder or a double girder bridge. A single girder bridge crane has one trolley that moves across a single girder beam, while the double girder bridge crane has two trolleys that move the electric hoist synchronously across two girder beams.

Jib Cranes

A jib crane has a lifting fixture that primarily consists of two large beams constructed to form a cantilever. The mast, or pillar, is the vertical beam of the fixture that supports the reach. The reach, or boom, is the horizontal beam of the fixture wherein the electric hoist travels to position the load.

Gantry Cranes

Gantry cranes are versatile lifting devices; their lifting fixtures consist of a horizontal overhead bridge supported by legs. The electric hoist travels along the length of the overhead bridge. Mobility is made possible by installing wheels on the base of the legs or making them run along a track. Unlike bridge cranes and jib cranes, gantry cranes do not require support from the building's structure. They can be used outdoors. They can be installed under bridge cranes to carry some of their load.

Monorail Cranes

Monorail cranes are a type of overhead crane used in production facilities and machine shops for repetitive lifting and positioning tasks. They are used to move loads to a restricted area. The electric hoist trolley runs on the outer flange of a single I-beam, which is already built on the ceiling structure of the building.

EQ Chain Hoist Maintenance Tips

Clean and Lubricate the Chain

Debris and rust are the most common sources of chain wear. If there's too much buildup of grit or rust, the chain can become difficult to move or stiff. Depending on what your chain hoist is used for, you should dismantle it completely for cleaning and oiling once or twice a year.

Be Aware of Common Issues with Chain Hoists

All three kinds of chain hoists - hand chains, lever ratchets, and differentials, use some combination of a hook and a chain to lift or move heavy objects. Wear and tear can affect the ability for the chain to rotate, which is the source of many problems. Luckily, you can help extend your chain's lifespan with regular maintenance.

Perform Regular Inspections

OSHA requires that certain inspections and tests be carried out on chain hoists on a regular basis. Every day, the crane or hoist operator should perform a visual inspection of their equipment to ensure it is working properly. Every month, a detailed inspection should be conducted, documenting damage to the equipment, as well as existing wear and tear.

Safety Precaution For Electric EQ Chain Hoist
  1. Electric chain hoists should not be used above their lifting capacity, specified in the nameplate. The rated load, or the lifting capacity, specified on the nameplate, should never be exceeded. In addition, the rating of the lifting motor (short-time and intermittent rating) should be taken into account.
  2. Operators and other personnel should not ride on a lifted load. This could lead to severe physical injury to personnel and damage to the equipment.
  3. Loads should not be raised in an inclined position because this may cause the load to swing. Before hoisting a load, electric chain hoists should be situated precisely above it.
  4. After the load has been hoisted, the operator should not handle the chain hoist and move backwards. Operators should always position themselves behind the load and move forward while operating the chain hoist.
  5. Operators should not use the electric chain hoist when underneath the load. At any time, no person should be present in the area beneath the hoisted load.
  6. Frequent use of the upper and lower limit switch can cause partial abrasion or damage the limit switches. Upper and lower limit switches are provided only as an emergency option, and should not be used regularly.
  7. Operators should not perform excessive inching operations. Habitual inching of the electric chain hoist may cause the service life of electric chain hoists to be drastically reduced.
  8. If a load necessitates the use of two electric chain hoists, ensure that both hoists meet the W.L.L. (Working Load Limit) requirements.

FAQ

Q: Why won't my electric hoist lower?

A: Possible Cause: (i) Hoist has been loaded with excessive load. (ii) Open lowering circuit or shorted winding in reversing contactor coil. (iii) Loose connection or broken wire in circuit. (iv) Control station contacts not working properly.

Q: What is the disadvantage of using a motorized hoist?

A: The electrical shock might cause due to operating the machine carelessly. It leads to serious health issues or even death. Electric hoists operate on electricity, so if there is a power shutdown, it can disrupt the work in the company.

Q: What is the difference between an air balancer and a hoist?

A: Pneumatic balancer generally has little ability to lift materials, ranging from 20kg to 800kg, and the largest one will not exceed 1000kg. Pneumatic hoist, with great capacity for lifting and lifting materials, between 20kg and 45ton.

Q: Can you use an electric hoist upside down?

A: Can I use an Electric Hoist upside down? No, due to the mechanics and lubricants in the hoist, this is not a recommended practice. However, Rayvanbo has a range of hoists that are specifically designed for the entertainment industry that can be used in the inverted position.

Q: What is the duty cycle of an electric hoist?

A: For those unaware, a duty cycle refers to the duration of time equipment can operate within one hour. For instance, an electric hoist with a 25-percent duty cycle can run uninterrupted for 15 minutes before requiring a cool-down period.

Q: What is the cause for hoist gradually coming down?

A: Brake Failures: A compromised brake system can result in the hoist not holding loads or gradually letting them down, posing significant risks. Gearbox Issues: Irregularities in lifting or lowering speed, unexplained noises, or non-responsive controls can indicate issues within the gearbox.

Q: What must you ensure you never do when using a hoist?

A: always check that inspection labels attached by maintenance staff are in date. never use a hoist that they have not been trained to use. always ensure that the right hoist is being used for the job - if in doubt, staff should be trained not to use the hoist but to reassess the handling operation.

Q: What is the life span of a hoist?

A: Hoists, whether they are electric chain hoists, manual chain hoists, electric wire rope hoists or electric belt hoists are all manufactured with 10 years of serviceable life before a major overhaul or replacement is required.

Q: Why is it unsafe for one person to use a hoist?

A: This is for safety reasons because the hoist transfer process can be dangerous if not done properly. For example, if the person being lifted is not positioned correctly in the hoist, they could be injured.

Q: Can I use an electric hoist to pull horizontally?

A: While an electric hoist is primarily designed for vertical lifting, it can also be used for horizontal pulling tasks with the appropriate accessories and setup.

Q: What is the lifting speed of electric hoist?

A: Lifting speeds are generally of the range 0.5 mtr/min to 15 mtr/min. It should be very critically handled as a little bit of carelessness might lead to hazards and accidents in the industries. The speed of the hoists depends on the weight of the materials to be lifted, i.e., the lifting capacity.

Q: Should hoist be used with their brakes off unless?

A: The hoist will find its own centre of gravity. If the brakes are on, the service user will potentially be pulled in an uncomfortable position towards the hoist. It is good practice to put the brakes on when the hoist is in storage or not in use.

Q: What to do if a hoist stops working?

A: Check the emergency stop button.
Check hand control is connected.
Check hand control for obvious signs of damage.
Check battery is charging (for on-board charging).
Check battery is charging (for off-board charging).

Q: How much weight can you lift with a hoist?

A: Platform hoists can move loads 200-400 lbs, while swing hoists can handle heavier loads of 1,000-2,000 lbs; loads exceeding these ranges would likely need to be transported by some sort of crane.

Q: What are the applications of electric hoist?

A: Powered by electricity, these hoists reduce reliance on manual labour, ensuring swift and efficient lifting operations. They are frequently used in manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and construction sites because they are perfect for lifting heavy loads up to several tonnes.
