Introduction to Cross Limit Switch
The cross limit switch is an electrical device used to restrict the movement or position of mechanical equipment. There are two types: contact and non-contact limit switches, with the contact type being more straightforward.
Characteristics Cross Limit Switch
Installed on the moving parts of mechanical equipment, the upper travel switch is positioned along with a stopper at the designated limit position (referred to as the "K" limit position) on either the fixed point of its relative movement or in the opposite position. When the mechanical contact of the limit switch makes contact with the stopper, it interrupts (or alters) the control circuit, causing the machine to halt or change its operation. To protect the switch from damage due to mechanical inertia, this cross limit switch allows for a certain amount of "overtravel."
Cross Limit Switchs come in various forms, such as reed switches, photoelectric types, and inductive types, commonly used in applications like elevators.
Cross Limit Switch, also referred to as travel switches, can be affixed to relatively stationary objects (e.g., fixed frames, door frames, etc., known as "still life") or moving objects (e.g., vehicles in motion, doors, etc., known as "animals"). When the "animal" approaches the "still" object, the switch's linkage activates the switch's contacts, resulting in the breaking of closed contacts or the closing of open contacts. This change in the open and closed state of the switch contact controls the circuit and the motor.
