The gantry crane is a mechanical device used for lifting and moving heavy objects. Its structural shape is similar to a bridge or a door, hence the name gantry crane. It usually consists of two pillars and a crossbeam, on which a lifting mechanism is installed, which can move along the track of the crossbeam. The gantry crane has a large lifting capacity and can be used to lift heavy equipment, cargo, and large components. It is widely used in ports, docks, construction sites, warehouses, manufacturing, and maintenance, providing important assistance for logistics and engineering construction. Gantry cranes have the advantages of strong lifting capacity, good flexibility, wide working range, and easy operation. They can be customized and designed according to different work needs to meet the use requirements of various occasions.

Gantry cranes can be divided into single-girder and double-girder types according to the main girder form:
1. Single Girder
Single-girder gantry cranes have a simple structure, are easy to manufacture and install, and have a low mass. Their main girder is often a skewed box-type structure. Compared to twin-girder gantry cranes, their overall rigidity is weaker. Therefore, this type is suitable for lifting capacity Q ≤ 50t and span S ≤ 35m. Single-girder gantry crane legs come in two types: L-shaped and C-shaped. The L-shaped is easy to manufacture and install, offers good load-bearing properties, and is lightweight, but the space for cargo to pass through the legs is relatively small. The C-shaped legs are angled or curved to create more lateral space for cargo to pass through the legs.
2. Double Girder
Double-girder gantry cranes offer high load capacity, large spans, and excellent overall stability. They are available in a wide variety of models, but they are heavier and more expensive than single-girder gantry cranes of the same lifting capacity.
Gantry cranes are powerful lifting equipment with large load-bearing capacity, height, and mobility. They play a vital role in lifting and handling operations across various fields, improving work efficiency and safety. With the continuous advancement of technology, the design and functionality of gantry cranes are constantly innovating and improving to meet ever-changing needs.
